This course meets the 60-hour Qualifying Education requirement (45 hours of Federal Tax Law, which includes the required 2 hours of Ethics and 15 hours of California Tax Law) imposed by the state of California to become a California Registered Tax Preparer (CRTP).
In this beginner CA tax preparer course, you will learn…
• How to prepare a federal individual tax return
• Filing status
• Which form to use
• Credits the taxpayer qualifies for
This course contains 15 Chapters; after each chapter, the student will complete online review questions and a Practice Tax Return (PTR). PTR’s are based on the course content that has been covered so far and will have its own set of review questions. Returns that use the Schedule A are prepared with state income tax withholding on line 5 and the additional state-specific taxes such as CASDI.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This chapter will explain how to determine who qualifies as a tax return preparer, what representation rights a preparer has, how that individual is bound by the Circular 230 guidelines, and what it means for a tax preparer to behave ethically and responsibly.

How long does it take to complete a course?
This course is self study which means you take it at your own pace! Some courses do have deadlines, make sure to read the descriptions to know of any deadlines.
Can I change my course language after purchase?
If you want to change your English course to a bilingual course or vice versa, you need to contact us and we’ll make the switch. *please note, if you decide to switch language you will lose your progress.
What's my refund policy?
Students have the right to request a full refund of their purchase excluding taxes and shipping (if applicable) within seven (7) days of the purchase date if unsatisfied with the online course material. A request made after seven (7) days but no more than 30 days with 0% coursework completed will result in a store credit. If a textbook was purchased with the internet-based course, a refund will only be issued after the original textbook(s) have been received in a re-sellable condition. If the textbook is not shipped back only partial credit will be refunded. Any other requests outside of this policy will be denied.
